Our Story

Founded in 2010, Specialized Retail Security was established to address a critical gap in the private security industry: the need for guards with genuine retail experience. Our founder, raised in a retail environment and immersed in the sector his entire life, recognized that effective retail security requires more than just presence—it demands deep understanding of retail operations, customer behavior, and the unique challenges faced by store owners.

Based in Pietermaritzburg, KwaZulu-Natal, we have grown into a trusted security partner employing over 400 highly trained guards. Every member of our team is PSIRA registered and fully compliant with all legislation governing the private security sector in South Africa. Beyond their formal grading, our guards undergo our specialized retail training programme, ensuring they bring both professional expertise and practical retail knowledge to every assignment.
